Islam: examination on the christian belief

This week at the university West Of England it is Islam awareness week; where muslims on campus will be expressing there beliefs with people. Tonight even though I could not attend they kicked off there week with a talk on the challenge of the quaran.
To start off with a positive for islam, I believe the majority of people in islam to be caring, friendly, supportive and loving people who are also fighting terrorism and ashamed of the terrorists within islam. I also believe muhammed up to about 40 years old, mainly throughout his time in mecca was generally a likeable' person.

when reading the quaran especially leaving the haddith to one side, if you did not know anything about the belief of christanit and parts of judaism, you would have many misconseptions and would view christians as polytheists and even come to believe that christians are believing god had sex to produce jesus, as it states:

surah 2 aya 116 They say: "Allah has begotten a Son". Glory be to Him! His is what the heavens and the earth contain; all things are obedient to Him. Creator of the heavens and the earth! When he decrees a thing, He need only say "Be", and it is.
the word begotten has a few meaning but main meaning is to have sex and by looking at the context you can see that is the expression the quaran is given, especially when he then says he only need to say be and it is.

there are a few errors in this verse. the verse is attacking and targeting chrstianity. Christians tdo not believed god beget a son in that act, as we do not believe jesus was created, as we see in the old testement

isiah 9 6, for to us a child is born, a son is given.

Dr. James R. White notes,
The key element to remember in deriving the meaning of monogenes is this: it is a compound term, combining monos, meaning only, with a second term. Often it is assumed that the second term is gennasthai/gennao, to give birth, to beget. But note that this family of terms has two nu’s, νν, rather than a single nu, ν, found in monogenes. This indicates that the second term is not gennasthai but gignesthai/ginmai, and the noun form, genos. G. L. Prestige discusses the differences that arise from these two derivations in God in Patristic Thought (London: SPCK, 1952), 37-51, 135-141, 151-156.
Genos means "kind or type", ginomai is a verb of being. Hence the translations "one of a kind," "one and only," "of sole descent." Some scholars see the -genes element as having a minor impact upon the meaning of the term, and hence see monogenes as a strengthened form of monos, thereby translating it "alone," "unique," "incomparable."
this shows the bible monogonese genos, is translated the only begotten in the sence on unique and type. l

Luke in his gospel even shows us

luke1

34 And Mary said to the angel, “How will this be, since I am a virgin?” [4]
35 And the angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born [5] will be called holy—the Son of God.

As we can see there is no use of a sexual act to produce jesus he is not created.

My next point I would like to make is the quaran on the christian and jewish belief.

Surah 5

73. They do blaspheme who say: Allah is one of three in a Trinity: for there is no god except One Allah. If they desist not from their word (of blasphemy), verily a grievous penalty will befall the blasphemers among them.

some translations such as the piktall use a third of a three in a trinity, which is quite similiar to the ali translation. What christian believes this? if we look at the context it is focusing on christians the people of the book. we do not believe god is one of three, but 3 in 1, its completely different. the Son, Father and Holy Spirit are 3 seperate persons who share the 100% co equal, co eternal glory and oness of the being of god. the quaran is in complete error, surely allah would know the christian belief? when we look at one of three, it stating allah is one of these 3 what? gods. so allah is one of those gods and jesus and not the holy spirit, as there is no mention of the holy spirit being god according to the quaran. This is where I move onto

Surah 5 aya 116

116. And behold! Allah will say: "O Jesus the son of Mary! Didst thou say unto men, worship me and my mother as gods beside Allah.?" He will say: "Glory to Thee! never could I say what I had no right (to say). Had I said such a thing, thou wouldst indeed have known it. Thou knowest what is in my heart, Thou I know not what is in Thine. For Thou knowest in full all that is hidden.

Again errors. Christians do not believe mary is god. nor do catholics she is the intercessor in prayer and there is no such belief as mariamites. When looking again at context the quaran is focusing on christians and there is no christians sect that believes this. It then makes a vital mistake thinking christians believe jesus is a god beside allah, we do not believe that. shema yisrael adonia eloheinu adonai eichad. the lrod your god is one, christians believe in one god, not gods beside god, there is a difference between being and person. The being is what you are and person being who you are. God is a definition of a superior being, if there was someone greater than allah they would be allah, but who is allah or god is something different. As we can see the quaran is in complete error.

surah 4 aya 171

O People of the Scripture! Do not exaggerate in your religion nor utter aught concerning Allah save the truth. The Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, was only a messenger of Allah, and His word which He conveyed unto Mary, and a spirit from Him. So believe in Allah and His messengers, and say not "Three" - Cease! (it is) better for you! - Allah is only One Allah.

Again we dont believe in three gods we believe in one god christians agree with this passage another error by the quaran.

9:30 And the Jews say: Ezra is the son of Allah, and the Christians say: The Messiah is the son of Allah. That is their saying with their mouths. They imitate the saying of those who disbelieved of old. Allah (Himself) fighteth against them. How perverse are they

Jews do not believe ezra is the son of god. name me one jew that believes this? it also doesnt even give that context, it states the jews, not a jew. If your going to say a certain jewish sect did or does, you have to hen say the same for christians when all christians believe jesus is the son of god. Giving the benefit of the doubt what jewish sect has or does believe this? ther eis absolutely no evidence.

Surah 5 aya 157. That they said (in boast), "We killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah.;- but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no (certain) knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a surety they killed him not

this is probably oneof my favourite verses and contains so many errors, there isnt even a commentry on this verse, as it is a complete mystery. some shcolars such as shbir aly believe jesus was put on the cross but survived, which is ridiculous, as there is not a slight bit of evidence to this and everyone who has been put on a cross by roman crucifixion has died or died later on through fungi and loss of blood.
It also states they did not crucify him meaning he wasnt even put on a cross, so that view can not be taken.

If we look at this verse from the begining. The jews killed jesus, now what jew would boast and call him the messiah and a messenger of allah? when they were killing him for claiming to be the messiah and god? it makes no sence, it shows the error of the quaran. jews did not believe he was the messiah or messenger of allah, so they would not say that, as they wouldnt want him to be killed if they thought he was the messiah.

There is also no evidence that someone else was put in his place.
even if we go out the bible and look at 1st century jewish and roman historians on jesus such as jospehus, tacitus, thalus, pliny the younger, lucian of marabia etc they all state jesus died by crucifixion. even his followers believed he died by crucifixion by reading the bible. the epsitle of baranabs dating to around 70 - 130 ad states he died by crucufion. there is absolutely no evidence.

The jewish talmud which is a saying of the rabbis, which dates before, prsent and future to christ states how jesus brother james was put to death for breaking the jewish law by believeing in jesus, but not as a prophet, as that is not breaking the jewish law, but believing he is divine

Jewish Antiquities 20.9

Festus was now dead, and Albinus was but upon the road; so he assembled the sanhedrim of judges, and brought before them the BROTHER OF JESUS, who was called CHRIST, whose name was JAMES, and SOME OTHERS and when he had formed an accusation against them as BREAKERS of the LAW,he delivered them to be STONED.

the evidence jesus died on across is a historical fact, even skeptics from the jesus seminar believe jesus died on a cross. the quaran is in complete error.

When we laos look at thise verse we can see allah deceived eople making them thinking that jesus actually died on a cross and then appeared again on the third day, which shows allah created christianity according to the quaran.

These are just a few of the errrs we find in the quaran regarding the christian belief. repent and turn to the lord.

Matthew  7  7

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened

Jesus is Lord

  1. The devil wants to turn the people away from the right path & the perfect sacrifice- Lord Jesus Christ. It is the crucifixion of Jesus that saves & so the devil does not want people to be saved by believing in the crucified Jesus. Indeed Jesus is Lord. God bless you brother Adam.
